But the spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There are no laws against things like that. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their corrupt nature along with its passions and desires.
This freedom is from the negative, cynical, and critical mindset and heart condition that come upon us when we leave God. If we live like this, we will destroy each other, which is why we need to fight for out spiritual condition.
Take some time and examine what is sapping your strength (life, pain, suffering and age are some reasons). What would change if we made a change from self-reliant (Habakkuk 1:11) to God-reliant (Jeremiah 17:5-8)?
Jesus used this parable to rebuke the religious leaders who pretended to obey God like the son who said "yes" but really lived with a "no" heart. Ask yourself when was last time you had a deep, transformational experience with God. Or, is your focus on behavior while ignoring or denying heart condition.
More often than not, God chooses to speak to us in a gentle whisper rather than in the dramatic (lightening, thunder, smoke and a booming voice). Take some time today and ask yourself what is God trying to whisper to you.
