When we feel insignificant or unimportant, it can be easy to feel like we’re stuck and that nothing we do matters. But as the scripture says, God is able to change our hearts from being hardened and dull to being soft and responsive. We may feel like we are frozen in our circumstances, mistakes, or heart condition, but God has already chosen us to do something great and will help us get there.

Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” [16] The LORD said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.”

Judges 6:14, 16 NLT

In Judges 6, Gideon felt insecure that he wasn’t important or strong enough to do what God chose him to do. But God told him as long as he takes action with whatever amount of strength he had, he would be successful because God was with him. Like Gideon, it can be easy to get trapped by our insecurities that we are too insignificant to do anything great, and hard to believe that God has actually chosen us.

That’s where music can help us. Music speaks to the soul and helps us express parts of ourselves that are too deep for words. Through music, we can understand and express our sadness, anger, happiness, insecurity, and so much more. Through music, we can go from insignificant and unimportant, to having purpose and being chosen by God. In other words – from feeling frozen to feeling chosen.

This playlist is meant to display the same progression David went through in the Psalms – starting with songs about feeling lonely, rejected, and afraid of being known, and progressing to seeing how God loves us for who we are and understands what we go through. Though this progression is meant to help you work through your emotions as you listen, you can listen to the playlist in whatever order you want – it is meant to help you work through, understand and express the emotions of your heart!
